TRADITIONAL OBEDIENCE TRAINING BUILT ON BASIC

COMMANDS

We start by setting the foundation of proper communication to establish the ideal dog companion relationship.  These basic commands include: sit, down, up, heel, place, and coming when called.  Hand signals will also be combined to help the dog to focus.  Improved communication through obedience will make training your dog a rewarding experience for the entire family.

We have Extensive Experience with Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, Rottweiler, and many other working breeds.  From Protection/Bodyguard to Service dog we've got you covered!

  • We always consider your dog's personality, behavioral history, and working drive before starting any training.  Through our training packages we can help dogs of all different types, sizes, and temperaments live happy healthy lives, while also reaches your personal goals in developing your canine companion
  • Our approach to training is adaptive, methodical, tires and tested.  We teach our dogs desired behaviors using both reward-based techniques and aversive corrections, which the dog will only be introduced to once it associates a behavior with a command.
  • As trainers, we have encountered all training styles, tools, and techniques.  We use what works to bring out the utmost confidence in your pet, while also brining maturity and self control into their lives.
  • Our trainers mainly use slip leads, snake chains, and long leashes to train obedience.  Occasionally we also use prong collars, and e-collars for off leash recall work.  We will never use any training tools without prior knowledge and consent, or upon request.  Through education and proper execution, we promise to always use these tools responsibly.

HOW TRAINING AT THE K9 PROFESSIONALS WORKS

  • Schedule Your Appointment
    • We are always available when you need us, adapting our schedule for your best convenience.
  • Training Evaluation
    • In our 45-75 min. class, We can test your dog(s) level of focus, motivation, reactiveness, defensive reaction, etc.  This allows us to go into the 2nd half of the class - the training portion - and explain what we are doing and why.  The class is hands on as you will be not only learning, but performing the tasks and prove your understanding of the training techniques presented.
  • Train Your Way
    • Our daycare & boarding programs are the perfect way for your dog(s) to play, train, and grow continuously while you are busy.  In conjunction with Private lessons between you and a trainer, we can reach any goal - and make sure the training sticks at home.
  • Follow Up
    • The K9 Professionals is here for you every step of the way. We provide follow up lessons to practice specific skills, techniques, and situations, as well as group classes to work on obedience and high traffic situations.
  • Protection
    • We have worked with many different breeds in protection from: Belgian Malinois, German Shepherdess, Rottweilers, and even poodles, and small dogs like French bulldogs which have lots of confidence.
  • Confidence
    • Many dog trainers don't understand how important Confidence is for dogs, whether they are doing protection or not.
    • A Confident Dog handles new situations well, and follows your lead and feeds off your engery.  If the situation is freindly or dangerous, a healthy trained dog will pick up on those things and match your energy.
  • Energy
    • I see dog owners every day, matching their dogs energy instead of being the leader.  When the dog is nervous or in a reactive state - it's important to lead by example, confidence, and self control - instead of rewarding the dog for unwanted behavior.  Praising, comforting, or rewarding the dog after showing unwanted behavior, will only teach them that they are showing correct behavior.  This leads to dogs sometimes even assuming they are the leader, since the owner(s) only mimics the dogs behavior.
